Performance is awful throughout the OS. Even doing something as simple as scrolling through a gallery in the Photos app - on the iPod it's smooth as silk. On the iPhone it stutters - quite noticeably - when I scroll through the same gallery. At least on the iPhone 3G, OS 3.0's performance is HORRIBLE. Note: I realize that this is beta. RocketDock is a Mac OS X dock clone. It provides a nice clean interface to drop shortcuts on for easy access and organization. With each item completely customizable there is no end to what you can add and launch from the dock. Bump mapping is a texture mapping technique in computer graphics for simulating bumps and wrinkles on the surface of an object. This is achieved by perturbing the surface normals of the object and using the perturbed normal during lighting calculations.

Windows 7 passes Mac OS X in market share race

Weekend numbers for new OS bigger than for all versions of Mac OS X, says Net Applications

Windows 7 passed the 5% market share milestone last weekend, which put it, if only temporarily, above the total market share of all versions of Apple's Mac OS X, a Web measurement firm said today.

Last Saturday and Sunday, Windows 7 powered an estimated 5% and 5.14% of all computers that were online those days, according to Internet metrics vendor Net Applications. The two-day average of 5.07% was higher than the 5% of the market that Net Applications said Apple's operating system averaged for the week of Nov. 15-21.

'It's safe to say that Windows 7's daily share did peak above Mac's weekly share,' said Vince Vizzaccaro, executive vice president at Net Applications, in an e-mail today. Vizzaccaro said his company had not yet compiled daily averages for Mac OS X, something that would be necessary to compare Windows 7's weekend numbers with the same dates for the Mac.

Seriously, can you upgrade from XP without the usual loss of data, drivers and patience?

Can’t wait for the replacement for the POS Vista that I’m saddled with at work.

My recommendation to my friends if they have a computer over 3 years old is that they buy a new computer with Windows 7 and Office 2007 installed and transfer the files from their old computer. But that's my general recommendation at all times anyway.
